Workshops
Join us for the next training in Trial-Based Cognitive Therapy (TBCT), to learn new, highly effective methods of CT conceptualization and techniques.
Trial-Based Cognitive Therapy (TBCT) is a three-level, three-phase, case formulation approach, developed by Dr. Irismar Reis de Oliveira, MD, PhD. TBCT's foundation is standard Beckian cognitive therapy (CT); however, it has a unique approach to conceptualization and techniques that make it easier for therapists to explain and for clients to understand. Additionally, TBCT offers distinct interventions in modifying patients' core beliefs, especially those about the self.
To know more about TBCT, read Dr. de Oliveira's new book Trial-Based Cognitive Therapy: A Manual for Clinicians, published by Routledge.
Training Objectives
At the end of this predominantly practical training, attendees will be able to demonstrate that he/she can:
1) explain the cognitive model, utilizing the 3 levels and 3 phases of the conceptualization diagram;
2) implement and explain the 14 steps of the Intra-personal Thought Record (Intra-TR);
3) implement and explain the 9 steps of the Inter-personal Thought Record (Inter-TR);
4) implement and explain the 7 steps of the Consensual Role-Play (CRP) - a decision-making tool to address ambivalence;
5) demonstrate the 7 steps of Trial-Based Thought Record (Trial I) to change one or more core beliefs;
6) demonstrate the 7 steps of the Trial-Based Metacognitive Awareness (Trial II) technique;
7) demonstrate the Participation Grid (PG) in working with events that produce guilt or shame;
8) combine relaxation and the sailboat metaphor.
TBCT Certification: After attending the three 2-day workshops, and being approved, you will become a certified Trial-Based Cognitive Therapist. Supervised practice of TBCT skills between workshops is strongly encouraged. Supervisors (Donna Sudak, MD and Noah Clyman, LCSW-R) will be available for weekly or biweekly supervision; however, this is not included in the above mentioned fee.
The earlier you register, the sooner you guarantee your participation.
