“In 2014, I supervised Noah Clyman's clinical work while he completed my intensive training program in Trial-Based Cognitive Therapy (TBCT), a new model of cognitive therapy that I developed. Noah’s skills in delivering CBT and TBCT were so impressive that I undoubtedly consider him the best trainee I’ve had in the past 10 years of TBCT development. For this reason, I have asked Noah to serve as a supervisor for trainings of TBCT, which he has been doing for many years. Noah is a highly competent cognitive therapist, whom I recommend enthusiastically to anyone who wishes to engage in CBT treatment."

“I am a licensed psychologist in NY and NJ. I found Noah when I was looking for peer supervision to improve my skills as a CBT therapist. Clinically, Noah has broad and deep knowledge and expertise in cognitive behavior therapy and evidence based treatment for a range of presenting problems and diagnoses. He is one of the only certified diplomat/trainer/consultants/ credentialing committee members at the premier certifying body for the CBT therapists (the academy of cognitive therapy), is a certified CBT therapist through the Beck Institute and has been certified in many other evidence based treatments including Gottman Method and Trial Based Cognitive Therapy. As knowledgeable as Noah is, what sets him apart, and makes him such a joy to work with and learn from, is how humble, warm and supportive he is. Noah always made me feel comfortable telling him that I don’t understand something or taking risks of role playing a new technique I was learning. Noah is the consummate professional, always learning and keeping up with the newest research and techniques and as good as he is clinically, he is an even better human being.
As an experienced CBT psychologist who has attended many trainings and has a wide network of clinical colleagues, I can honestly say, without hesitation, that Noah is among the best therapists and supervisors/trainers that I know. I highly recommend him as both a therapist for patients and clinical supervisor/consultant for therapists-in-training as well as for experienced, licensed clinicians. "

“I have consulted with Noah for the past year in preparation of C-B-T certification. He is a wealth of information and expertise in the areas of C-B-T and couples counseling. My practice has grown significantly as a result of the valuable structure that Noah has provided to incorporate into my counseling practices. The effort of time and money has been a very rewarding investment especially in terms of referrals from satisfied clients. Noah not only teaches C-B-T; he models it."

“Noah Clyman has been a training consultant at The Coalition for Behavioral Health, Inc. for over four years now, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with him in the years to come to promote best practices in clinical settings. As a key educator on the topic of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), his track record has been superb. To date, Noah has trained over 280 individuals from various community-based behavioral health agencies in the New York City metropolitan area. He has provided up to 10 trainings, covering topics, such as using CBT for recidivism with court-involved youth, trauma-focused CBT, mastering CBT for improving communication skills with adolescents, and the essentials of CBT. Overall, Noah’s trainings are strongly demanded, highly attended, and well received. Individuals walk away with a better understanding of CBT and how it can be applied to elevate the lives of people in the community.”

"Noah was my trainer for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Immediately, I felt welcomed by him as both a dedicated trainer and compassionate person. Noah's extensive knowledge and expertise of CBT was apparent as he led our group through the agenda, beginning with the building blocks and working up towards specific concepts. Noah supplied my professional toolbox with useful supplemental handouts and resources. His utilization of visuals and videos brought complex content to life. As an engaging lecturer, he interacted with our group and made sure to integrate time for questions and clarification throughout. Noah was very responsive to what I had hoped to get out of the training and exceeded my expectations, equipping me with newfound skills I can bring to my work with clients."

"Noah has been my supervisor throughout my placement year, a challenging, sometimes daunting time when new skills were being learned and tried out with clients looking to me for help that I was not always sure I could provide them with. However Noah was a consistently knowledgeable, calm and upbeat presence who offered me clarity and insight into client problems with the lightness of touch that is the hallmark of an expert in their field. He gave me confidence in my work yet challenged me to always question ‘where is my evidence’, ‘have I got this right’? I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Noah and have learned a great deal from him."

"Noah was my trainee supervisor for the past year and the insight and knowledge he provided was invaluable. He was readily attentive to my client needs as well as my own. Considering I was a trainee there were more than a few! He took them all in his stride. Noah was warm, kind and went out of his way to provide materials that were both helpful and made me think. He has greatly informed my practice as a therapist and imbued a confidence that I am grateful for. "

"Noah has been an absolute pleasure to work with. From the outset and ‘scary’ first experience as a trainee, he very skilfully guided me, step by step, giving me the confidence to begin my journey as a therapist. Queries are dealt with in a timely fashion and this responsiveness has been very much appreciated. Sessions are always very engaging and his enthusiasm catching! Noah is a knowledgable and experienced and I would highly recommend him as a Supervisor. I look forward to continuing to work together in the future. "

"During the past 6 months, I have had the pleasure of being supervised and trained by Noah Clyman. During my supervision and training with Noah, he helped develop and strengthen my skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Also, he helped me prepare my application to the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Immediately, I was impressed by the depths of Noah's knowledge and his professional accomplishments and contributions to the field of Cognitive therapy. Shortly thereafter, I was even more impressed by his genuine warm and supportive demeanor. I found supervision with Noah not only to be organized, structured and very professional, but also, open to helping me build a better sense of self. Noah was conscious to allow me space for self-discovery and self-improvement, helping me confront some of my fears and doubts. I greatly benefited from Noah’s use of role play, case consultations and amazing resources for my practice. I started supervision as a novice cognitive therapist with random pieces of knowledge and skills. When I finished, I felt like I had an advanced and cohesive understanding of CBT. My ability structure therapy and implement different skills with clients has improved tremendously. More importantly, my time with Noah has helped me grow into a more competent and confident therapist. Noah is a fantastic supervisor, trainer, and clinician. I am very grateful to have had this time with him and I am certain others will share a similar experience."

"Noah has given me the best clinical supervision I’ve had in my career as a psychotherapist. He seamlessly blends his vast clinical knowledge with a warm, supportive teaching style and consistently models clinical excellence. His teaching style is clear and interactive, and I always feel he is highly attuned to my needs as a clinician. Noah is exceptionally responsive, encouraging, and his positive energy is highly motivating. I leave each supervision session with new tools and a deep understanding of how to apply them in my clinical work. I can honestly say I am a better clinician thanks to Noah’s guidance ."

"Noah is one of the most skillful, thoughtful, compassionate, and supportive supervisors that I have ever encountered with throughout my entire learning career. He works extremely hard for his supervisees with consistent, detailed, and constructive feedback which has boosted my learning curve in a short period of time. His dedications to learning is also inspiring. Through his supervision, I not only become more effective to my clients and my supervisees but I also learn to be more compassionate toward myself. I learn to approach life with cautious but not with fears. Noah is the best, and I am looking forward to continuing working with him."

"I have been getting CBT supervision from Noah now for several months. I first considered doing CBT supervision after completing a formal one year CBT course and subsequently learned that ten supervision sessions were highly recommended in order to apply and gain diplomacy status at the Academy of Cognitive Therapy(ACT). I became aware of Noah through his thoughtful replies and outstanding postings to specific requests for case consults from other members on the ACT email list. Prior to this I had seriously been considering supervision with someone else, but was so impressed with his intelligent and detailed postings, which I myself found helpful and integrated into my practice, that I decided to request him as my CBT supervisor instead. I have been lucky to be able to receive supervision from Noah. Noah is very caring. He has a very collaborative style and truly tries to understand the kind of problems in therapy I run into, then checks the accuracy of his understanding of those problems with me, and offers multiple suggestions, which he then assists me to integrate into my practice. Yet he is flexible enough to allow for helping me with questions or problems that come up in my therapy sessions with my clients, outside of our primary set for supervision goals. As a result of my supervision with him I have improved as a therapist and I come to my sessions with my clients recharged with more confidence and fresh ideas of how to best approach clinical challenges.
Noah uses a variety of approaches including sharing articles, videos, scales, role plays and summaries, while regularly eliciting feedback for my satisfaction from any of the approaches/tools. The summaries during and in between session have been particularly helpful, as they do allow me to further reflect on and integrate this newly gained knowledge. Furthermore he uses the same session format for supervision as a regular CBT session he would have with a client, so the modelling in itself is a good learning experience. His supervision is well worth it! In fact it has been so enriching and useful to me, that I have considered, seeking more supervision beyond the 10 recommended sessions for my ACT certification. I would wholeheartedly and without any reservations recommend Noah Clyman as your CBT supervisor. Thank you Noah! "

"Unlike most private practitioners struggling to make as much money as they can to live in NYC, Mr. Clyman keeps his rates low in order to serve all clients and supervisees. His fee structure is far below his level of expertise and experience. Mr. Clyman is nonetheless adamant that those in need should have access to high quality cognitive behavior therapy. He founded and directs NYC Cognitive Therapy and his group provides services to clients with low to high incomes and a full array of cultural and sexual orientations. Mr. Clyman specializes in treating, though by all means does not exclusively work with the LGBT population. He treats a great many individuals for OCD, depression and other mental health disorders and his treatment model is Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This, because it is scientifically evidence based, as such is determined to be the most effective form of psychotherapeutic treatment available. He studies under the premiere CBT academic-practitioners and he has revised some of the classic evaluation forms used by CBT therapists in order to make them more user friendly and data producing. He is therefore able to closely monitor and get feedback from his clients on effects of treatment. His goal is to keep treatment short term, effective and long lasting. He always plans for relapse prevention to keep patients moving on a positive trajectory toward their goals.
Mr. Clyman teaches workshops on the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale, he is certified in Trial Based Cognitive Therapy and he is the first social worker in NYC to be awarded the ACT Trainer/Consultant and ACT fellow awards. He also co-developed and co-taught Boston University’s first online MSW course in CBT with the Beck Institute. I feel honored and privileged to study under his tutelage. I chose Mr. Clyman to be my mentor to prepare for CBT certification because he is a member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy credential committee and for all the reasons listed above. He is an expert evaluator of my work samples. Mr. Clyman pushes me to do more, to do my homework, to attend outstanding workshops, to join professional organizations, to get my LCSW. In short, he pushes me to be the best that I can be. I will be able to go out and become an effective therapist because of my MSW training, my post MSW training in CBT and in large part because of Mr. Clyman’s mentorship.
In conclusion, let me say that not only does Mr. Clyman hold NASW values and ethics as sacred, but he is a compassionate, brilliant social worker who strives to improve and effect positive change in all those he works with...clients, interns and students. He has endless energy and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to improving his work and providing oversight for novice practitioners of CBT. "

"I hired Noah to supervise several of my cases in order to prepare myself for certification by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Noah is an extremely knowledgable and helpful supervisor. He differentiated himself from most other supervisors I have had by clearly setting an agenda for every session and by using role plays within every session. He paid careful attention to my audio tapes, scored each of them, and cited specific segments for us to listen to in session. He doesn't just preach CBT techniques; he models them in session. He was extremely skillful at helping me find my clients' core beliefs and in helping me with client commitment issues. I would recommend him highly."

"Noah is by far the best supervisor I have ever had. Over the last three years, he has provided me with collaborative, in-depth supervision utilizing skills like role plays, reviewing my tapes and rating them on the CTRS, and always being available to answer my questions. I find his supervision approach to be warm and empathetic, using humor as a way to normalize the learning experience for newer clinicians. I feel that my therapeutic skills and effectiveness of treatment would never be where they are today without Noah's clinical supervision. NYC Cognitive Therapy and Noah set a very high bar for education and training. I recommend him to anyone interested in gaining a thorough understanding and certification in CBT! "
- Jess Allen, LMSW, New York City, NYC Cognitive Therapy
"Noah provided the supervision I needed to learn the skills required to be certified as a CBT therapist by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. This process included learning to: structure efficient client sessions, work with clients to set specific goals,
teach cognitive and behavioral skills to help clients make changes, teach clients to practice and maintain their new skills.
We conducted most of our sessions via Skype because I do not live in New York City. Initially, I was not sure if this method of delivering supervision would be effective. I can definitely say the distance did not hurt Noah's ability to provide supervision at all. In fact, I now feel so comfortable with conducting sessions via Skype, I have offered this alternative to some of my own clients. Noah is a knowledgeable, caring, and extremely effective supervisor. I am a better therapist after working with him."

"I was supervised and trained by Noah Clyman for the last six months while I was completing my ACT certification. Noah was extremely helpful to me in expanding my skills and solidifying my understanding of the key concepts of CBT. Not only did he meticulously guide me through my case write-up, but also provided a little CBT to help reduce my anxiety around recording my work. Because of Noah’s training and support, I have become a better therapist and confident in my ability to provide CT to my clients. I am so thankful for all of his help."

"I have been in supervision with Noah Clyman, at NYC Cognitive Therapy, since July 2013. Noah is a great teacher. From him I have learnt to apply, to great benefit for my patients, the theory of Cognitive Therapy. I have presented in supervision very difficult cases and thanks to Noah CBT teachings, I have been able to better understand the underlying issues and to make significant changes in their lives. I have also used the cognitive behavioral techniques that Noah taught me with my psychopharm patients and have been impressed as to how helpful they have been even when treating clients on a less frequent basis. The supervision with Noah has added a new and fundamental tool to the way I work."
- Cristina Profumo, MD, New York
“I had the pleasure of receiving supervision from Noah Clyman as part of my agency’s new CBT training venture. He was a wonderful clinical supervisor and created a positive learning environment for me to hone my understanding of the Theory and my clinical skills. Not only did I learn how to provide consistent and quality CBT delivery to my clients but he modeled how to supervise in a way that is constructive and collaborative which I can use in my supervision practice as well. He is kind and professional and played up my strengths during supervision sessions. I have since earned my certification as a diplomat with ACT. Anyone would be lucky to have Noah as a supervisor!”
