Ali Lamb

Approach: Ali strives to meet people where they are and uses a strengths-based approach to grapple with life’s curveballs. With a foundation of cognitive behavior therapy, she strives to assist patients discover and evaluate the stories we tell ourselves, so we can rewrite our narrative. Her empathic approach is about creating space to form new habits to manage personal, professional and social obstacles.
Background: Ali is earning her Masters degree at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work, she will complete her degree in May 2021. She earned a BA in Economics and Legal Studies from the University of Denver in 2014. Her studies at NYU have been focused on CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Trauma-Informed Care. Ali has worked with clients managing attachment issues, grief, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Before seeking her Masters, Ali fundraised for a public university in Washington, her home state. She has also volunteered with the YWCA, the Anchor Center-which is a preschool for the visually impaired, and Junior League. Ali loves to read, cook, ski and do yoga. She likes to integrate meditation and exercise into her own self care practices.
Training: Ali has received training in social media usage and anxiety, academic anxiety and stress management, and restorative justice circles during her tenure at Democracy Prep Charter Schools. She has also received training in Child CBT Trauma through the Medical University of South Carolina. Currently, she is being trained in CBT under the supervision of Noah Clyman, founder & director of NYC Cognitive Therapy.
Areas of Interests: Anxiety, worrying, emerging adulthood, life transitions, improving interpersonal relationships, couples, coping with stress and pressure, perfectionism, self-esteem/self-criticism, navigating family dynamics, and grief.
