Jessica S Nathanson (she/her/hers)

Picture
Approach: Jessica uses compassion, curiosity and openness to help provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can share their experiences and feel heard, supported, accepted, and validated. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach to help clients gain awareness and insight into how their negative and distorted thoughts and their coping strategies impact their growth, well-being and relationships, and to help them work towards more adaptive and effective ways of thinking and behaving. She also uses elements of EFT to help clients identify their negative patterns and cycles in relationships. She believes a collaborative relationship is key for growth and change, and she promotes client empowerment through client autonomy and agency.

Background: Jessica is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU Steinhardt.

Training: Jessica received CBT training from the Beck Institute and currently works under the supervision of Noah Clyman, LCSW-R, A-CBT, the founder and director of NYC Cognitive Therapy.

Areas of Interest: Depression, anxiety, self esteem issues, relationship difficulties, attachment injuries and couples work.
