MESSAGE TO CLIENTS
Hi, I'm Ethan. I’m currently a clinical intern at NYC Cognitive Therapy, supervised by our founder, Noah Clyman. My journey toward becoming a therapist began at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where I worked in inpatient units specializing in trauma recovery and eating disorders. During that time, I encountered many individuals who had not had access to personalized care until their symptoms became severe enough to require hospitalization. This experience deepened my understanding of how critical early, individualized intervention can be—and how transformative a strong therapeutic relationship is in the healing process. I supported patients using tailored, person-centered strategies that contributed meaningfully to their recovery. That work reaffirmed my passion for helping others in a more direct, one-on-one setting and inspired me to pursue advanced training in mental health counseling. MY APPROACH I believe that while therapy often begins during life’s most challenging moments, its deeper purpose lies in helping individuals thrive—to cultivate resilience, unlock potential, and step fully into the best version of themselves. I aim to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we’ll work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—and learn practical strategies to shift undesirable patterns. Meanwhile, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on helping you take actions based on your values, and enhances psychological flexibility. I also draw from Reality Therapy, a present-focused approach that emphasizes our choices and decision-making in our lives. Together, we’ll not only find relief from distress, but build a life that aligns with who you truly want to be. EDUCATION
