Current Groups

We are no longer accepting new members for our current CBT Skills Group for Depression or Social Anxiety.  Please contact us if you are interested in a new CBT Skills Group for Social Anxiety beginning in February 2021.
VIRTUAL GROUP FOR DEPRESSION
NYC Cognitive Therapy is starting a new virtual CBT Skills Group for Depression. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a highly researched therapeutic method that is both collaborative and solutions-focused to help clients make long-lasting changes that positively impact their lives outside of therapy. This 20-week closed group will consist of 8-10 members (ages 18 and up) and focus on skills that can help adults manage depression and other mood challenges. Specifically, group members will learn to (1) Understand how their moods correlate with their behaviors and thoughts, (2) Identify and plan for activities that support their values, and (3) Use mindfulness and acceptance techniques to further enhance their ability to manage their depressed moods in stressful situations.

Our group is geared towards both individuals who are new to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as those who may already have some familiarity with this modality and are looking for added group support. Especially for individuals who are seeking connection during this pandemic and global crisis, the nature of the virtual group format allows group members to connect with others who are experiencing similar difficulties.  Start date and time are to be determined, likely a weeknight evening for 75-minutes per session. Please email ali@nyccognitivetherapy.com if you're interested in learning more or scheduling an intake session.

Virtual Social Anxiety group
NYC Cognitive Therapy is launching a new virtual CBT Skills Group for Social Anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be effectively utilized to help individuals struggling with social anxiety to reduce their symptoms in social, academic, career settings, etc.

This 15-week closed group will contain 8-10 members (ages 18 and up) whose primary concern is social anxiety. Specifically, the goal of the intensive, structured group is to help members address concerns, including socializing, making friends, dating, increasing assertiveness and communication skills, advancing one’s career, overcoming the fear of public speaking, and other performance-related anxiety.

Start date and time are to be determined, likely a weeknight evening for 75-minutes per session. All sessions will take place on Zoom. Please email gianna@nyccognitivetherapy.com if you are interested in learning more or scheduling an intake session.
Virtual Group for Mindfulness
Are you hoping to incorporate mindfulness into your life this year, but don’t know where to start? NYC Cognitive Therapy is launching a new virtual 12 week Mindfulness Group led by Gianna LaLota and Ali Lamb. In addition to Ali and Gianna’s respective work as clinicians, Gianna is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500) with experience teaching yoga and meditation in NYC. This group is suited for both beginners who are new to mindfulness and meditation, as well as, individuals who are looking to deepen their practices.

This 12-week closed group will consist of 10-12 group members (ages 18 and up) who are looking to learn more about mindfulness in a supportive group setting. Mindfulness has been clinically proven to reduce feelings of stress, depression, and anxiety by helping individuals cultivate greater present-moment awareness, as well as, compassion for themselves and others. Not only will group members leave the group with a greater understanding of basic mindfulness principles, they will also be equipped with various techniques and tools that they can implement in their daily lives.
Start date and time are to be determined, likely in mid-February. Sessions will be 90 minutes and will be conducted via Zoom.

Please email gianna@nyccognitivetherapy.com and ali@nyccognitivetherapy.com if you are interested in learning more or scheduling an intake session.
