Cara Kraft, LMSW

​Approach: Using a strengths-based, collaborative approach, Cara helps clients to understand the negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs that have been inhibiting them from living the best version of themselves. Grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cara works together with clients to create strategies that will lead to successful habit change, goal-setting and achievement, positive body image and self-esteem, and attaining a fulfilling, purposeful life and career. 

Background: Cara earned her Master’s degree from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work in 2020 and her BA from Boston College in 2010. During her tenure at NYU, Cara received training in CBT, DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. She has successfully worked with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, insomnia, and hoarding disorder. Prior to pursuing a degree in Social Work, she held several roles in marketing and communications for consumer food brands such as Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, and HelloFresh. As an avid foodie and runner, Cara is interested in how food and exercise impact mental health and foster interpersonal connections and growth. 

Training: Cara has received CBT training through the Beck Institute and under the supervision of Noah Clyman, founder & director of NYC Cognitive Therapy. Cara has also completed training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and chairwork techniques with Scott Kellogg, PhD.

Areas of Interest: Depression, anxiety, OCD / attachment styles and interpersonal relationships / life transitions / self-esteem and self-criticism / building balanced diet and exercise habits
