Rachel Piaker, MHC-LP
We all struggle from time to time and it is Rachel’s goal to truly understand her clients and help them discover untapped strengths so that they can face difficult times with greater ease. Her approach to therapy is energetic, collaborative, and goal-oriented. She offers a supportive environment and individualized approach to help each client reach their full potential.
With a background in medicine, education, and psychology, Rachel draws from her diverse experiences to truly connect with her clients. She has a gentle and empathic approach and is passionate about helping others work through obstacles in their personal, social, and professional lives.
Background: Rachel graduated with a BA in Psychology from Tufts University in 2012 and went on to pursue dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She soon realized that she preferred connecting with and getting to know her patients to the actual dental work and subsequently chose to pursue her advanced degree in Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University, which she completed in May 2018. When not working, Rachel can be found baking in her kitchen or out on a run.
Training: Rachel has completed workshops in Trial Based Cognitive Therapy (TBCT) with Irismar Reis de Oliveira, MD, PhD and is certified in TBCT. She has also received extensive training and supervision in Beckian CBT with Noah Clyman, LCSW-R.
Areas of Interest: Anxiety / worry, young adults / emerging adulthood, life transitions (particularly college and post-college), relationship and dating concerns, work conflict, coping with academic stress / pressure, career issues and life balance, self-esteem and self-criticism.
